Economic Development

In speaking with many business owners over the last few months, there is substantial concern in this area. One business owner expressed concern over the amount of time (several years) it took to be able to expand their business.  Yet another indicated he has neither had a visit from nor a conversation with a city official/employee despite being in business for over 10 years.  I believe that we can and must do a better job in this area because retaining and expanding current businesses is one of the easiest and least costly ways to protect and expand our tax base.  It can also help to provide good paying jobs right here in our community.  I am heartened to hear of increased efforts recently by city staff in this area and I hope to expand upon their work in the future.  As your Mayor, I will engage directly with the business community to ensure that they feel welcome and supported in Becker.
